Rubik--The Miraculous Cube

                                     Rubik -    The Miraculous Cube

We have seen this cute tiny cube in toy shop. We have brought this cube out of curiosity and all of us are attracted by its simple appearance and color . In fact, it is one of the interesting hobbies among  youngsters.

. Life if full of twists and turns you know,

exactly each side has same color and the

challenge is you have to solve the cube

with twists and turn and get back

to the same color

Most of us have tried to solve the cube, but at the end we get frustrated and become unsuccessful. But why people love it and why it is a miraculous cube !!!!!!!!.

         .

Here is the answer, initially it has the name magic cube, but later it is called as speed cube and Puzzle cube. It was the Hungarian Puzzler’s creator Erno Rubik, Professor of Architecture well known for invention of mechanical puzzles invented this cube.

                                                     .

Erno Rubik

But then he struggled nearly a month to solve this cube. In 1980, this cube made its first international appearance in toy fair across the world. In order to honor the inventor, the name was changed as Rubik’s cube, from then it became popular among the toy world. In 1981, this cube has won the UK Toy of the Year and best game of the year award.

It is a mind game, anyone be it at any age can solve this easily. But one must know the logic behind it. It has a simple code word such as front F, Right R, Up U, Left L and Down D. The rotation of clockwise directions is FRULD and the anticlockwise direction is F’R’U’L’D’. Though there are several methods available to solve the cube, the logic behind is simple and same. CFOP (Cross, First layer, Orientation and Permutation) is one of the Friedrich popular methods to solve this cube. Those who love puzzle solving will find it interesting and challenging.

How to solve

Step 1: In Top or first layer make white cross (C)

Step 2: Solve white corners in First layer (F)

Step 3: Solve the middle layer by orienting (O) the yellow in edges

Step 4:  Solve the final or bottom layer by permuting (P) yellow cross and

              to corners, finally

Step 5: Position the yellow edges

            Increases spatial intelligence

             Promotes problem solving skills

Enhances  Logical thinking, Memory power and Critical thinking.

            Develops intellectual skills and

Prevents joint degeneration at older age

   Different types

1.      2x2:   It is the pocket cube or mini cube with just two layers. It looks simple but there are more than 3.6 million possible combinations, available to solve. Can you imagine!!!!!!!!

2.      3x3: This is the original classic Rubik’s cube. It has 6 faces, 6 colors with 9 cubes on each side white, red, blue, orange, green and yellow. Later the cubes have been updated with slight changes in color.

3.      4x4 and 5x5: The 4x4 cube is called as Master’s cube. This cube has 24 centers, 24 edges and 8 corners. It was created by Sebesteny Peter. The 5x5 cube is called as Professor’s cube and was invented by UdoKrell. These cubes consist of both fixed and movable centerpieces.

6x6 and 7x7: This cube was invented by Panagiotis Verdes. The only way to solve this puzzle is to first identify correct positions of all the colors and then applying the 3x3 cube algorithm.

7x7 cube has 218 smaller cubes and are attached to 6 internal frames

Apart from this, there are 8x8 till 13x13 cubes available in the market but are considered to be more complex cubes.

Mirror cube:  As the name specifies, this cube is colorless. Each cube has different sizes that form different structures. The challenge here is that you have to solve the correct size and not the color.

Pyraminx: It is also called as triangle Rubik’s cube. This is a regular tetrahedron shaped 3 layer puzzle which has 4 triangles together and 9 smaller identical triangles in each face. Uwe Meffert invented Pyraminx and many other puzzles in early 1971. But only after the success of Rubik’s cube in 1981 he got patent for his invention.

Pyraminx is one of the second largest selling

toys in the world next to Rubik’s cube

Junior Pyraminx or Pyramorphix: It looks exactly Pyraminx, but the specialty of the puzzle is the four corners of the cube is reshaped into pyramids and the other four  reshaped into triangles.

8.      Master morphix: It is the modification of 3x3x3 Rubik’s cube and more complex variant of Pyramorphix which is tetrahedral in shape. It has 4 corner pieces, 4 face centers, 6 edges and 12 non center pieces

                                                                           .

9.      Skewb: This cube was invented by Tony Durham. It looks like Rubik’s cube but differs in the construction. This is the modification of Pyraminx and it has 8 corners and 6 square center pieces. The axes of rotation in this cube is slight different  ie, rotation is  through corners of the cube and not on the center of the faces.

10.  Megaminx: It is made up of dodecahedron which has 12 faces, 20 corner pieces and 30 edges. The challenge here is that you have to scramble the colors and arrange it to  one color per face

There are lots and lots of cube available today such as Soma cube, Axis cube, Square one cube, Windmill cube, Clock cube, Gear cube, Poly cube and the list goes on…but the seed is Rubik Cube.

To identify best puzzle solver number of competitions has been conducted worldwide every year by (WCA)

Fastest Rubik Cube solver:  Yusheng Du, is the fastest cube solver to solve the cube in 3.47sec and it is the current record.

Youngest Rubik Cube solver: Niah Sanjith three-year-old from Alappuzha is the youngest cuber in the world to solve three types of Rubik's cube puzzles.

World Guniness Record: Baby Sarah six-year girl, from Chennai set a Guinness World Record by solving Rubik's cube puzzle blindfolded in just 2 minutes.

There are many achievers  across the world and the list continues

Some requires one week practice and some one month that depends upon one's interest and training.

WE all know that hobby is the best stress buster, but I say cube is the best hobby. Solving the cube can you become smarter, the answer  is

My Son’s Favorite Drink

My Son’s Favorite Drink

First day to school is important in everyone’s life because it gives excitement and nervousness not only to the kid, but also to the parents. We often don’t remember our first day to school but when we ask our parents they still will have the memory in their heart. My son turns 4 this June and till now he was only in daily care only for about 3 to 4 hours. My son is very naughty. No surprise in this fact, today’s generations are so faster than us. He needs somebody to supervise him all over the day and at times I feel that my energy is not sufficient for me to take care of him. As every mother’s wish is to be with their kid all through the day and same is my feeling too. I decided to be with him till he goes to school and so I took long leave from my teaching profession.
We planned him to shift for kinder garden and searched a school for him nearby my house, so as to reduce the travelling time and to avoid tiredness. At last we got admission in school which is very near to our residence. But from this year he has to be in school from morning 9 A.M till evening 3.30 P.M. This puts me in great anxiety because form the day he was born he was under my care and control. I have never leaved him the whole day under somebody’s control. The very first day, I and my husband were in busy in getting him ready to school. I and my husband were with full of eagerness than my son. One thing which makes us worry is that he must love the school and he should not shed tears while in the morning to school. Everything is fine and we left him under his teacher and returned back home.
I could not wait till 3 P.M and we were there in school at 2 PM to pick him. When he returned from his class he was very happy and from his face I could feel that he loved the school very much. But one thing I noticed with him is that he was very tired and almost in exhausted state. Since that was the first day I consoled myself that I would be alright in the following day. But everyday he returns from school he feels sleepy and I felt that he is not active. We observed him for almost 20 days and then we decided to take him to pediatrician. He examined him thoroughly and finally he reported that suffers from insufficient nutrition and energy. He also added that my son has not attained correct weight which is needed for his age and height. This bothered me lot because all these days I was in assumption that he has attained correct growth and development which is needed for his age.

Later, our family doctor advised to give him some Health and Nutrition drink and suggested us Horlicks Growth plus for my child. Its about 15 days that we are giving him Horlicks Growth plus chocolate flavor both in the morning and evening as substituent to milk. I could feel the difference in him. He plays in the evening with his friends and is more active till night after school. Above all, he does his homework all by himself.

Datsun redi-GO - Gift from my hubby

My husband was applying for a house loan and was requesting my driving license for address proof.

My four-wheeler driving license is useful only for address proofs and nothing more than that. I eventually poured out my frustration.

He looked at me, gave his car key and replied, “I am not stopping you from driving my car. Anytime, you can take and plan for a long drive.”

“Are you kidding? Your car is gigantic and scary. I get nervous to drive it”

“It’s must be approximately 4585 mm in length only. It’s no big deal. You can drive”

“You always reply the same. I am asking you a car since long. Almost 5 years, you never even thought about it” I replied in anger and went to prepare breakfast for my kids.

This is the usual conversation with my husband and It always ends in not-so-good-ending. But that day was so special. My husband sent the below text along with a link in what’s app.

“Fun. Freedom. Confidence. The ultimate Urban Cross - Datsun redi-GO - the capability of a crossover with the convenience of a hatchback.”

I clicked on the link and it navigated to new vehicle  Redi-Go. Though I know very well that my hubby was researching this car for me, I asked for whom the car was. His reply was ultimate.

“Well, it’s for my new girlfriend. Since girlfriend is new, a new car model for her”

Though I know he was just teasing me, when he replies like that I get so possessive. I stopped texting him back.

That Evening he came home with few set of print outs. We browsed the picture of the car in google and he explained about the features of the car. When it comes to car or product, I am not good in judging or researching. But as he explained the performance and as I saw the interior and exterior design, I felt I should go for this car. It actually comes with 2 variant. DATSUN Go and DATSUN Go+. We downloaded the brochure from the website and he explained me its feature.

Fun. Freedom. Confidence.

With this car you can have full freedom, you can go wherever you want with confidence. You have a shift indicator, hence when you are on wrong shift, it gives you a warning or alert. I know you always forget to put petrol on right time, this car comes with fuel indicator. This will let you know the distance to empty the fuel. You always complain that, AC comes only to front seats. This car comes with integrated center AC and ensures that AC is distributed evenly around all the passengers in the rear seats as well. I vote for this car because it comes with an air bag.

For him my safety is first. I thought and smiled.

“What about the mileage and price” This is the only question that I know to ask, when it comes to a car or 2 wheeler.

“It gives around 25 km per litre and price is ₹3,25,726.” He continued, “You can book this car online through snap deal and if we book now we get a free vacation of 3 day and 2 night from package Club Mahindra.

“Oh Really, then I can plan a trip Munnar trip with our new car”

“Yes you can” He replied and we booked a request for a test drive.

Summer Trip to Chill Chill Coorg

It's a known fact that schools will have summer vacation in the month of April and May. Chennai receives the worst and maximum temperature during these 2 months and people usually plan a trip to some hill station to enjoy the chill weather and to escape from the unbearable hot weather. I am staying in Chennai with my two kids: the younger one is 18 months old and the elder son is 9-year-old. In order to avoid my elder son from the electronic gadget, I made him busy with abacus and chess classes. But my son was constantly pestering me to take him outside. I felt that I too need some relaxation, since I was always running behind my 1 ½ year old son.  Finally we decided to plan a trip to Coorg during the last week of May.

The only reason for preferring hill place was to enjoy the chill climate. I have heard many times about Coorg and its weather from my friends and relatives. I thought it was a nice place to spend the vacation with my family. My husband asked me to prepare a perfect plan and make the complete arrangements for the trip.

Then on I started to analyze the places in Coorg and the best place to stay. I realized that distance from Chennai to Coorg is almost 600 km and it will take around 10 hours of journey by car. It would be really a long and difficult journey and the long journey might affect my younger son. He has never traveled such a long distance. Even for my husband driving 10 hours might be difficult. Then I stumbled across the Domestic Airlines that runs between Chennai and Coorg. Though it was a perfect idea to travel by flight and reduce the travelling time, I ignored the idea of travelling in flight. It was resulting in added expenses and it was not fitting our budget. Then I came across the attractive offers that Yatra provided. I booked round trip in Spicejet Airlines for 4 people through yatra and got 2500 rupees as cash back. With the cash back, I booked a decent accommodation.

The plan was to travel in flight from Chennai to Mysore and after reaching Mysore we will hire a taxi to Coorg since it was just 120 km from Mysore. Here is my blue print for my travel

Day 1:

First day we planned to visit some falls. The primary reason my elder son loves to enjoy in water. He loves waterfall and will enjoy it to the core. While browsing the best place to visit in Coorg, I came across 2 waterfalls - Irrupu and Abbey falls. But our plan was to visit only one falls. Both of the reviews seemed to be equally good. Iruppu Falls was almost 60 km from Madikeri  hence we decided to visit Abbey Falls, since it was just 6 kms from the hotel we stayed.

Day 2:
The second day was planned for exploration. We planned to visit elephant camp and National park. Taking the child to National park is always a good idea. They enjoy watching all the animals. So, I did not forget to include National park visit and wild life safari.

Day 3:
Third day is for myself. For me, a trip is not complete without visiting a holy place. Hence, I planned for temples and near by places in Madikeri.

When I show this blue print to my husband he was praising a lot. Almost everything is ready and we are now eagerly waiting for the day to come.

My Toddler's Favourite Music

“Lullaby” is everyone’s favorite and much loved songs which we use hear in our childhood from our mother or grandmother. Our mother when she was a child would have experienced the sweetness of the lullaby from her mother and this was continued from generation to generation. Now a day the greatest problem is that most new mother’s does not know to sing lullaby and it becomes a challenge for them to keep their kid to sleep or to feel comfortable whenever necessary. I remember my mother saying that my grandmother used to sing lullaby every night, when I was a child. Listening to her voice and sweet rhythm, I used to sleep peacefully. Luckily are the kids who hear those songs.
Unfortunately, I missed to learn that from my grandmother. Even after searching in YouTube, I was not feeling so content with the results I got. While looking for an alternative, I got one super idea that I would like to share.
Here is the new idea for all the lovely mothers which they use to play the song from the mobile as lullaby. The kid used to listen to the song and will turn to sleep very often and it become habit in almost all the kid’s house.
This is about my experience with my kid and how my son becomes favorite to one particular song. I use to sing with my own tune with my own voice to make my son sleep all the time. One day when he was just 6 months while watching television he started crying for no reason. I made him cool by singing song but suddenly “dandanakka song” from the film Romeo Juliet is played in music channel in television. All of a sudden he stopped crying and began to listen the song. From then on his favorite song is “dandanakka” and whatever mood he is, his much loved song is dandanakka.
One day we went to attend a family function, with new faces and new surroundings due to huge crowd he started crying.  We almost made the entire attempt to make him comfortable but he remains restless. Immediately I took out from the place and I played him the song.  All of a sudden he stopped crying and he enjoyed the song. From then on it become our trick to play the song whenever he is restless.
Though today’s generation miss those lullaby, to some extend it can be replaced with the music or songs that a movie has. Sometimes, my toddler who is just one year old, who speaks with lubbaly voice, request us with sound to play the song in the mobile.
But sometimes, it reflects in other way too. Last week, we all were tired and punched the bed around 10 PM in night. My toddler was energetic and was not ready to sleep. We thought of attempting our usual trick to make him sleep by playing the song. But on the reverse side effect, instead of sleeping, he started dancing.

Beep Song

Beep Song

Recently one song that put entire Tamilnadu into two different controversies and sensation is so-called Beep Song. This song is lyrics was written by Simbu and composed by Anirudh. These songs contain words that need to be censored and this also degrades women in the society. Initially this song was uploaded in YouTube and slowly started receiving negative comments. It started spreading like a virus among the people and everybody started opposing by criticizing Simbu for this song. When the media people approached Simbu and asked for his comments on this song, he said that the song was stolen from his mobile and unofficially uploaded in YouTube by some other people without his knowledge. But people were not ready to believe his statements and day by day the aggressiveness towards him started increasing. Some people even filled a case against him in the court. Knowing this he began to avoid media. But again rumors started spreading saying that he absconded to some foreign country. Immediately, his mother and father approached media and gave an explanation stating that Simbu did not abscond anywhere and he is in Tamil Nadu only.
Her mother went a step further and stated the media that this incident has put them under lot of pressure. They were restless from the day of this incident. She in fact pleaded sorry.
Coming back to the issue, there were few people who supported him and there were few set of people who aggressively condemned Simbhu. His haters said this is a general practice that Simbhu is doing every now and then and he is a kind of Psycho. They also added that, he does this to get fame and publicity. Few said, he has to be hanged to death. On listening to all these statements, his mother was freaked out and cried out to media. She questioned media, “What wrong did my son do to hang and kill him? This song was not published by my son. He was playful and was enjoying with his friends. If the song has hurt any woman, I am sorry for that. Please leave us alone”
But even after her sincere apology, his haters were passing heavy and bad remarks on him and his family.
Whereas his supporters said, this song was not used in any movie or album. This song was stolen from his mobile and he cannot be completely blamed for his act. When compared to few movies and few people who project women in a wrong way, this song or incident is nothing.
Even high profiled stars use the words in the movie and this would be replaced by beep music. Recently, there were another movie, which completely criticized women and no one has opposed that movie. It was running successfully in Theaters. But just for one word, why people are wasting the time and filling the case? Is this important to the society. For a day, the beep song was a trending hash tag in Face book? Does this song really need this big attention? People should think about it!!!

Colgate 360 gold toothbrush

How to turn good mornings in to gold mornings

I am working as an assistant professor in private institutions and my passion is teaching. The moment I enter into the institution the students used to greet me by saying” Good Morning  Mam” every day in the morning. I just nod my head and will continue my work. This behavior created a different opinion about me among the students. The students used to think that I am a not a jovial person since I will not smile at anybody.  But the reason behind this is that I always have the feeling that I don’t follow the correct way of brushing the teeth which result is the tooth decay, gum formation and so on.
Recently I heard from my friend about the #Colgate360GoldMornings and suggested me to use Colgate 360 gold toothbrush. Since I am not much aware of the toothbrush I asked her for the more detail. She said it comes with gold color with ultra slim tip bristles. This latest Colgate 360 gold toothbrush will help the clean in between the teeth than the normal bristles. Moreover it not only protects the teeth but also the mouth from the germs, bacteria and gum formation.

With all this in mind I plan to use the latest arrival of Colgate 360 Charcoal Gold toothbrush and I asked my husband the buy it for me. To my surprise the tooth brush has not only bristles but also tongue cleaner with it. Also this can be used up and down, front and back, side to side in between the teeth.

Now every day I used to brush with the innovative Colgate 360 gold tooth brush, and the instant I started using the toothbrush I could feel the difference with me. It created confidence within me. Now I used to smile at everybody around me with enthusiasm and  whenever student greet me in the morning I rely them with “Good Morning” with a smile in my face. Now to all my students I am also the most cheerful and jovial person in the college. Believe it or not, this latest arrival of Colgate 360 gold tooth brush completely changed the opinion about me among the students. I can now say everyday and every morning is a gold day and gold morning for me.

My Favorite City

Coimbatore is my all time favorite city and I loved to be Coimbatorian. With its major

production in cotton, Coimbatore is known as Manchester of south India and poor man’s Ooty.

It is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu, and also one of the leading and growing cities in

educational, commercial and in textile industry. We have 3 medical colleges, 7 universities,

many Engineering colleges, Arts colleges in and around Coimbatore that supports all the

educational constraint to become the educational heart of south India. Indeed, here are plans for

the establishment of the world class university in the city. It is also one of the leading exporters

in automobile components that meet 30% need of the entire India. It is more diverse city than

any other city in Tamil Nadu in cultural. Though, it is more diverse city and cosmopolitan, here

people of Coimbatore are sociable and what not, Coimbatorians are known for their simplicity

and hospitality.

Coimbatore is 530 KMs from Chennai, and is connected by national highway from Salem

leading to Kanyakumari. We can easily connect with the neighboring cities due to the four lane

road facility.  In Coimbatore city, you can also find well laid roads and lanes. Coimbatore has an

International Airport and is connected to all major metropolitan cities in India, and Gulf. Indian

Airlines, Jet Airways, Air Sahara, silk air and Air Deccan operate frequent flights in

Coimbatore. All the major telecom service connects the entire district of Coimbatore. With the

increasing demand for the treatment, medical facility and equipment, Coimbatore set an example

for the entire state with the world class infrastructure hospitals with well equipped instruments

and high quality doctors.

We have mountain ranges on all sides, with Niligiri Mountain in the north and pollachi

valpari hills in the east. The eastern side of the city includes majority of the urban area and the

western side has the Nilgiris, Anaimalai and Munnar ranges and to the west of the city we have

Palghat Gap, a mountain pass which connects Kerala to Tamil Nadu. Moreover, the city has

Noyyal river, Pilloor river and Athikadavu river which almost serves the water requirement of

the entire city when the rainfall is not sufficient for the need of the city. Besides these rivers we

have sweetest ever Siruvani waterfalls in the Western Ghats and multiple streams that drain the

waste water in the city. Coimbatore is blessed with beautiful, pleasant, salubrious climate

throughout the year due to mountain ranges and the cool breeze blowing through the Palghat.

And for kids we have several amusement parks in and around the city namely, Black

Thunder water theme park, Kovai Kondattam amusement park and Maharaja Theme Park and

recently for the relaxation of the people at the weekend Coimbatore is equipped with two biggest

malls in the city

Last but not least Coimbatore has numerous Hindu temples with the famous Maruthamalai hills

with the height of 500 mts in the western ghats of the Coimbatore region.
