Chewang Norphel - Will of Steel

I am from an agricultural family from south India. My father is very much interested in agriculture and in south India especially in Tamil Nadu, the main problem is we depend fully on rain water. People has to wait for the rainy season and accordingly they crop their land. If ever there is no rain in the particular season then the farmers will suffer a lot throughout the year. It happened last year, there was no rain in rainy season and in summer due to water scarcity there is no flow of water in rivers, pools and streams. Here people has wasted lot of money and energy in digging the ground till 1000 ft deep into the earth, with the hopes of getting water, but the net result was no water in the ground. Around 300 to 400 coconut tress died in our village due to water shortage. Everybody in our village become depressed when they happened to cut the wood of the trees and they sell it in the market. Almost we lost all our coconut trees in our village and the land is just filled with sand alone. Now we are searching for alternate source for water for agriculture.

Recently I happened to hear about Chewang Norphel, a retired civil engineer aged 76 from Ladakh who is known by nickname Iceman. He was awarded with Padma Shri, the fourth civilian award of India in 2015.  He developed a simple technique to harvest water into an “artificial glacier” using locally found materials and pipes. He created artificial glaciers by diverting rivers into a valley, slowing the stream by constructing checks. These are built as a substitute for dam and he believes that dams are enormous financial burden. The idea of setting up artificial glaciers at lower altitudes than the natural ones that can melt in late spring is really appreciable.  The system uses small streams that are active throughout the year and then turn towards to the valleys. So far he has built 12 artificial lakes and the largest one is that 1000 ft long at phuktsey village which can supply water for 700 people in the entire village at the cost of 90,000Rs. Artificial glaciers have proved significantly increase the underwater recharge and providing necessary water for domestic use and irrigation purposes.

A revolutionary thought!!!
The advantages of these glaciers are numerous that it has been constructed closer to the villages that required water. It is clean and does not affect the environment in any way and is renewable year after year. The technology to build the glaciers is simple and low cost where it does not require the import of any material from outside. These glaciers are maintained by people and there is no need for the investment of money for this system. Today he stands in front of the camera proudly, as a true climate hero.

There are many inspirational people who are designing gadgets and flying out space. But Chewang Norphel  is from a different world, where he found a solution for the simple problem like” storage of water” in a simple innovative way and storing it at a place where water is considered as gold. I want this idea to be known to everybody in India especially to the farmers in south India where rain water today becomes a dream.

Chewang, Indeed a real Hero and Champ.

5 reasons to choose ASUS Zenfone 2

5 reasons to choose ASUS Zenfone 2

Recently my sister gifted my dad with Asus Zenfone for his birthday which was my dad’s first smart phone. My dad was very much impressed by its performance and he showed the mobile to me. I just had a glance over it and my sister started explaining its features and performance. After discussing for a long time about Asus Zenfone, it caught a special place in my heart. Then on, I look forward for its advanced version and finally decided to go for Asus Zenfone 2. Here are the five reasons why it is better choice for me than any other mobile.

We know that ‘first impression is the best impression”, as such the first look of Asus Zenfone 2 will give you everlasting impression. Nothing could replace its amazing beauty, stunning clarity and elegant look. Its luxurious ergonomic arc design with incredibly thin and slim makes me to love it. Moreover I can hold it always in my hand, due to its light weight and compatible.
Next I want to capture each and every moments of my baby who is 6 month old now for future memories. The 13MP Pixel Master Camera and f/2.0 aperture lens of Asus Zenfone 2 makes me to click and click on the moments of my son with high resolution. Even at the night time I can take brighter photos with excellent clarity without the need of flash light. With its 4GB RAM and smooth video playback I can even record the activities of my son and show to my husband with brilliant quality. Thus enjoying the life with greatest extend with our newborn baby.

Third point is that if I want to make my son sleep during day time, I can play him “lullaby” songs for him were Asus Zenfone 2 delivers excellent audio quality.  I need not worry about the charge since it has boost master technology. I can charge up to 60% in just 39 minutes. Nothing can prevent my son’s enjoyment while hearing the songs.
Since I am working professional, I cannot apply for leave all the time whenever I need to stay with my son. But the other choice is that I can apply for “work from home”. Due to its Intel processor, it is unimaginably fast and performs multitasking at a time. It is good companion for me which helps me to get my work over at time. I can do office work and do multiple browsing at home with my son without crawling and compromises.
Finally whenever my husband happened to be away from home, I never felt loneliness. With its advanced technology I can connect to him anytime, anywhere in a fraction of seconds without any interruption when compared to other mobile. With Asus Zenfone 2 in my hand you believe it or not it makes me to feel that my husband is with me always. Above all I need not be aware of my mobile always in order to protect form son. Its view flip cover deluxe protects Asus Zenfone 2 from scratches and scrapes. Definitely Asus Zenfone 2 will make you feel comfortable and good.

Kellogs Special K and Guptaji Family

Kellogs Special K and Guptaji Family

“Good Morning, Seetha”, I greeted her and entered into my cabin in a good and happy mood. From Seetha’s reaction, I can understand that she wants to know what has happened yesterday. Seetha’s place is next to my cabin and we both joined in the company and on the same date. We were close to each other than with any one in the company and almost we share everything with each other.
After a short while she entered into my cabin and asked, “You look so happy today. Any good news? Share me the reason for your happiness today”.
I said” Thank you very much; it is because of you everything ends well”.
”Really, Then congratulation, When is your marriage date fixed” asked Seetha.
“In June”.
”Okay. Nice to hear from you. Now I have to go to my place and we will continue in the lunch time”. She left my cabin.

Four months before, my weight was nearly 65 kg. I never felt that I am little obese before my parents started searching alliance for me. One day my parents informed that they have seen a proposal for me. They said everything about the family and the nature of the job. My parents said the groom’s family has decided to visit our house to talk about the remaining formalities and they showed the groom photo to me. To me it was okay since my parents were very much satisfied with the proposal. Two weeks later they came to our house with their son and after talking for a while, they left the house informing that they will update about their decision later. My parents were eagerly waiting for their reply and were expecting that the reply would be positive. Two days later they called my parents and told that the bride was little obese and cancelled the proposal. My parents got disappointed. From then I started to think of reducing the weight. One day when I was talking to Seetha, I said her that I want to reduce weight, but I should not lose my energy and strength. Immediately she suggested me to have “KELLOGG’S SPECIAL  K” in the morning and night. From then on I started using Kellogg’s Special K both in the morning and at night. Slowly I reduced my weight without loss in energy and strength. After three months I lost 10 kg weight and now my BMI says that now I am slim and fit. After two months my parents got another proposal and that was confirmed yesterday and my parents are now happy. He is also a software employee.

During the lunch time we finished lunch together. I invited Seetha for my marriage and informed her that she should attend the function without fail. Seetha Said me ”By the way I forgot to tell you one thing, tomorrow there is get together in Gupta’s house. She has invited us for the nashta.”
“Gupta Ji.?” I cried out in excitement.
Gupta Ji’s family is known for Kellogg's Corn Flakes breakfast. Her recipes are always lip-smacking and with just corn flakes she prepares more than 100 variations of breakfast.
“Join in the get together without fail.” Seetha stressed again.
“Sure I will be there tomorrow”

Happiness

Happiness

It has been just 3 months, that I married Raju who is a software employee. Apartment life is new to me, so I spent most of the time inside the house by watching Television and reading books. Due to these, I do not have any contact with neighbor. Raju is hard worker and sincere, yet he loved to spent 10 hours in his company and he is team leader. I never felt such loneliness before marriage.

I have two elder sisters who have settled in Chennai and both of my sisters were working employee. So their kids were left under the control of my mother. First sister have two sons and second sister has one son and a daughter. Before marriage I spent my whole time with the kids. Almost they spent most of their childhood with me, so always they like to enjoy their vacation with me. Whenever I see any children playing in the park, immediately I remember my sister’s kids. Daily in the evening they used to call me to the mobile and share their school memories with me.  I said to my husband that all my thoughts are with the kids. He convinced me that we would go to native when time permits.

One day my father called me in my mobile and informed that he would come to our apartment to invite us for first Diwali festival. In the evening, when Raju returned form office I informed him about the conversation I had with my father. As my father invited both of us, we have planned to go to native during the festival which I am eagerly waiting for it. We went for shopping and we purchased clothes, crackers and sweets for the kids. When I was talking with them they said that they will be coming to my home town three days earlier for Diwali as the school has announced 6 days holiday for Diwali. So we also planned to go to native the same day.

During my entire travel all my thoughts were around the kids and was dreaming about the time I am going to spent with them. When I reached my mother’s house, I was disappointed to hear that they would come only at night. It was after three months that I am going to see them. After some time I could hear the horn sound of the car. Yes, it was my sister’s kid. Both the sister have joined at Chennai and they came in the same car with their kids. When the kids saw me they shouted out in excitement and jumped towards me. Two hands are not enough for me to catch all my 4 kids. They shared all their memories with me and we were talking till late night and we all slept together. On the day of Diwali they wore new clothes which I specially brought for them. We all together burnt crackers, had breakfast, lunch and dinner together. The time I spent with my sisters kids gives me the real happiness. For me nothing can replace the moments I share with them. #Iamhappy

#StartANewLife

#StartANewLife

This incident happened some 4 years back when my son was in Pre K.G. Now my son is studying II std. we admitted him in the nearby school. Usually school is said to be second home, where children use to spend more time apart from home. I and my husband were working in college, so we decided to leave him were at most care will be given to kids at school. After enquiring all my friends we decided a school for him. The first day when I took my son to the school, I was nervous about my son. Since it was the first time he is leaving home and going to a new environment. I said “bye” to him and was eagerly waiting for the staff to come out from the class. Later the class teacher requested me to leave the place because on seeing my face my son might cry out with excitement. That day happened to be half -day for all the kids. When I went to receive him in the afternoon, I asked him about the new school and new teacher. He said he liked the school very much.
Slowly he began to adapt the new environment and he loved going to school. He got new friends and he began to learn new activities. We enjoyed all his new activities that he does at home. Daily it is a new learning for him and we also started to like the school. Days passed and it was almost in the year-end. Summer started and for kinder garden kids vacation starts earlier. So we planned to leave him with my parents during the holidays.

I visited school to pay fees for the next academic year. After a while the office staff asked about the purpose of my visit. I said I have been here to pay the fees for the next year. They asked me to wait for a moment and then they said to meet the higher authority of the school i.e. Principal. I waited for my turn to meet the principal. When I entered the principal room she offered a seat. I sat in front of her and said that I have come to pay the fees.
She said “last date is over. You cannot pay fees now”
I replied, “I didn't receive any intimation about this”
She said, “We displayed the date in the notice board”
“I didn't see notice board.”
“What is this irresponsible answer? It’s your duty to see the notice board”’
“I am working, so not able to come on that particular time“
She said, “Then what responsibility you have. All parents will leave their children here and they will never come. Big headache to us”
“I have visited earlier many times. But regarding fees I thought I can do the payment at any time”
She said, “School rules will not let to do so”
I asked, “You can intimate us through diary, so that I might have been aware of it”
She said, “Here thousands of students are studying. We cannot intimate to each and every one. That is not our job”.
I can’t even believe that a person who is in higher position is behaving in such a harsh way to the parents. I said, “At least you should intimate the parents who have not paid the fees”
She said, “We have lots of other job in school “
I asked, “Finally what is your answer”
She said, “Wait for some time. I will tell you. Where is your son?”
“He is with my parents” I Said.
She said, “Without your son you are not allowed to pay the fees. You may go now”

I came out and called my husband and said everything. In the evening when I met him I said I don’t want this school anymore. He was shocked with my statement and said “Don’t be fool. We will meet her again tomorrow and will convince her."
I said “No. They are treating parents like servants. How can they teach humble manners to the children? They will never learn good manners from this school. We will change the school. I want my son to be educated not in a big school but in a right school”
I took that decision and was also strong in my decision. We moved him to another school where there is good relationship between the parents and school teachers. Today he is at II standard and no issues so far regarding the school. The Class teacher will speak to all parents of their wards once in a month and will discuss the students performance.
Still now I feel pleased of that bold step which gave a positive change in my life and my child’s life.

Look Up - A moment that filled me with optimism for my future writing

Look Up - A moment that filled me with optimism for my future writing

I always had a fear to raise out my opinion in words. Though I had an interest to pen down my thoughts, I always had a nervousness that people would criticize my words. I pull a lot of courage and scribble a small write-up and post in Facebook wall. But I delete it immediately as soon as I post. I had an anxiety that people would post negative comments and my views will feed them to analyse my character. Interesting fact is, none in my family members knew that I can write.
It was in last year, my son came back from school. As usual he went for playing and returned home at 6.00 P.M to do homework. I took out his school diary to know the homework for the day. The teacher has mentioned about the upcoming writing competition that their school was organizing for Independence Day. A student can choose any one of topic listed from five topics. I chose “Unity in Diversity”.
 https://housing.com/lookup
Since I had a passion to write, I started writing about the topic. Without my knowledge I had completed two page. By that time, my husband was back from his office. I did not make a big deal about the writing. In fact I wrote that only to thrash in dustbin. I went to make coffee for him. By the time I returned from Kitchen with Coffee he stood up and was clapping for me. Sometimes, he becomes crazy and I thought today is one such day. He knows my handwriting and hence he understood that I had only writing that content. He scolded me for hiding that skills from him. I did not believe his words. I thought he was just teasing me like every other days. He took a snapshot of my writing and send it to my parents in what’s app. Tears filled my eyes and fear blocked my mind. I was afraid that they must have concluded some wrong image about me based on my views about Unity in Diversity.
My husband understood what’s running in my mind. He convinced that the writing was good. Though I understood the truth in his voice, my mind was not ready to believe. On the other side, he understood that I have a basic writing skills which on proper molding could make be a better writer. He don’t want to my writing interest to get wasted. So, he suggested me to start a blog. Still I remember my eyes expression that went wide on hearing the word start a blog. I firmly said not to tease me further and went to kitchen to continue my dinner.
But it did not stop over there. Next day morning, my husband said our son is going to participate in writing competition and If he wins first prize in the competition, i.e with the article I had written, I have to start a blog. I know my writing will not win even in school level and I happily agreed for that deal.
But to my astonishment, my son won the writing competition and the teacher also gave a note that the views expressed in the contest was unique and fresh. When people started recognizing my work, it gave me a confidence and optimism for my future writing. I had no clue how to start a blog. I searched in Google and created a blog on the same day.
When my husband returned from office, he was happy to hear 2 good news. One, his son got first prize in writing competition and two his wife has started a blog. It was his turn to react for the good news and he took us out for dinner.

The power of being #together

 The power of being #together
Five months before, I had my second baby delivered. The infant underwent all the mandatory test to make sure the baby's health is fine. The doctor said the baby's weight, heart beat and breathing was normal and everyone was relaxed. The hospital visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and only one person is allowed to stay with the patient at night. So my mom decided to stay with me, since she can help me out when there is any need. My sister, my husband and my father went home.

Around 10 P.M, the doctor suspected something was wrong, since the baby was not active and not crying for milk. They felt the sugar level for the baby must be low and hence the doctor advised to test the sugar every 3 hours for the baby.

During the first test, the sugar level was normal. It was around 2.A.M they did another round of sugar test for the baby. The sugar level was low and the nurse called the doctor immediately. The doctor advised to shift the baby to “Baby hospital” which is 2 KMS from the hospital. As soon as I heard the baby needs to be shifted to Major hospital I was nervous. Since I had undergone the operation, I was advised not to go out from the hospital. My mom took the baby and went with the doctor and the baby was admitted in the ICU.

I was left alone in the hospital. The loneliness killed me and increased my fear. I don’t want to call my father at that odd time. But I called my husband and he directly went to the baby hospital. I was badly waiting for the clock to tick 5.00 AM so that I can call my father and request him to come to hospital for support. As soon as I called them in the early morning, first they scolded me for not informing about the situation. My father and my sister rushed to the hospital. As soon as I saw them I burst out into tears. The Pain that I held entire night came out with scream on seeing my close ones. They gave support and consoled me that the baby will be alright soon. It was their soothing words gave me the power of optimism. There was a small god statue in the hospital. I took my sister and we did prayer for hours. My family members kept talking some stories to keep my mind occupy with some stuffs.

Around 10, I got a call from my husband saying that the baby is completely back to normal and the sugar level is steady. Still they wanted to keep the baby under observation for a day. I said I want to meet him. He came to hospital and my father went to Baby hospital. My husband explained the baby activities and it gave me confidence. At that point of time, I realized the power of being #together! And presence of a person would make much difference and it would give hope and strength to face any problems in life.

An Addiction Called Advertisement

An Addiction Called Advertisement

What if you woke-up one day and realize that you are in a world where there are no more advertisement.? Here are my views...

World without AD

It's difficult to imagine a world without advertisement. Even for spreading social messages to public, it requires publicity. Advertisement is one of the simple ways to reach 'each and every person' in the world.
I just asked my naughty son “How will your favorite program look without advertisement?”
He just replied, “It will be boring ma. Without that, how will I get awareness about the launch of new chocy(Chocolate), new ice-cream flavors, deals about my favorite snacks? ”.
His comment seems to have a great meaning. Imagine in a day, almost 12 hours is occupied by serials in television. And almost 10 minutes is fully occupied by the advertisement in 30 minutes serial.
If there is no advertisement in between the serial, it will become boring. Almost all the serials are packed with serious and depressing scenes every day, if people watch some 4 to 5 serials continuously without advertisement then everybody will become frustrated.

All television channels depend mainly on advertisements and without it there will not be many channels and people will start craving for entertainment. Finally we all love to watch cricket and everybody’s favorite game is cricket without other choice. Today we watch live world cup cricket in our living room, which is mainly due to advertisers and without sponsors no live telecast of the game will happen.

Today kids are smartest, they know all snack items, toys by watching the television advertisement which they keep on demanding their parents. It becomes easy for the parents, to demand the kids to obey their words by saying that they will do it for them. Without ads parents will struggle to keep the kids under their control.

We all love to keep our body fit and smart. By watching the products such as dresses, jewellary, face creams, hair product and health drinks in the advertisement it indirectly induces us to use them to look smarter. Today everybody have health awareness, especially women have beauty conscious so they buy the product which suits for them. Without advertisement new quality products will be unknown and the world will not seem to be beautiful.

In India it is difficult for everybody to get government jobs immediately after their graduation due to over population. Youngsters today need not wait for jobs and they can start their own business hoping that they can bring their product into market with the help of advertisement. So indirectly it gives a lot of hope and confidence for the people to start their business whether it is small or big which reduces unemployment in the country. Finally a business man in north India can bring his product to south India through advertisement, otherwise we depend only on local products. It just connects north, south, east and west people together.

Perfection second's Corrections

It was very Sunny afternoon had to go to railway station to pick my in-laws. While I was waiting for the train to arrive my eyes got caught by a small boy who was trying to open the chips packet which his Mom sitting next to him gave. He Just opened the Packet from the middle and spilled all most half down. He felt very sad he got only few to eat. He said the same to his Mom. I could hear him saying to his Mom that he had very less. His Mom Smiled at him and said you should have Opened it correctly my dear. The Boy felt bad and kept pale face. Than after a while when the Mom understood that the boy was actually repenting for what he has done, she gave him another Packet which she had. The boy was so happy. I thought as the boy was joyous by getting one more packet from his MOM will open the packet Very fast fast and sure to spill at least few , as that is the Kids tendency. But to my shock this time he was very slow and careful too in opening it and made sure he doesn't drop even a single one. and WHAT! HE DID IT!

All the while I was watching the Boy I was thinking how true this is in every one's life. It is not always that we get things done right in one short. Second time when the Boy opened the packet it triggered my mind telling that If A person is perfect without doing any mistake then he can't be Human being but should be God.

Hope we all of us would have had our own story like this Boy.
